Preschool Press 10/15/18

Dear Families,

We had a busy week learning about Mary the mother of Jesus, and all of the wonderful ways our own mothers care for us. We learned about the letter Dd and created our Dinosaur Dan craft; counted and compared different types of pumpkins, and kept busy with Halloween pushpins and pictures!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

As stated in an email this week, we will have preschool conferences in January. More information will follow. If you have any questions please let us know! Both 5-day morning and afternoon preschool will be open on October 22nd, October 29th and November 5th.

Language Arts

This week we will learn about the letter “Ee” and create Ed the Elephant.

Religion

This week we will focus on Joseph, the father of Jesus. We will learn about his profession as a carpenter and how he loved and cared for his family.

Spanish

This week we will learn shapes in Spanish: Circulo Circle

Cuadrado Square

Triangulo Triangle

Rectangulo Rectangle

Halloween

The AM and PM preschool class will be celebrating Halloween on Friday, October 26th. On this day, the middle school classes will be hosting a Halloween carnival from 1-3pm in our school gym. The children may wear simple and comfortable costumes to school that day. If your child attends XDC in the morning or afternoon they may wear costumes to XDC that day as well. Please be sure costumes are easy enough for the children to take care of at restroom time on their own. Also, please no pretend weapons or any kind of accessories. Thank you!

Part time preschoolers and all AM children are invited to attend the carnival with a parent or other adult that afternoon.

Music

We sing many songs in preschool. Please find one below to practice with your child if you would like.

Good Morning, Lord. It’s a beautiful day.

Good Morning, Lord. I’m going your way.

Open my eyes and let me see someone who needs a friend like me.

I know that I could surely be loving, caring, always sharing.

Good Morning Lord. It’s a beautiful day.

Good Morning Lord, I’m going your way.

Did you know?

We practice making the Sign of the Cross everyday when we say our prayer before snack. Help your child practice at home. The prayer is as follows:

Sign of the Cross:

In the name of the Father

And of the Son

And of the Holy Spirit

Amen

Prayer:

Dear Jesus we thank you for the food we are about to receive,

We thank you especially for (Student name) and his/her family for providing it.
