Here is your lesson!

DAVID AND GOLIATH

Goliath is a giant in the Philistine army.  Every day he challenged the army of King Saul to select someone to fight him.  David was a young shepherd boy standing among the scared Israelite army.  He had a strong relationship with God.  He loved to pray and God protected him as David protected his sheep.   Very bravely, David, made a decision to trust God and fight the giant. With God’s protection David found the strength he needed to conquer Goliath.

*With your family’s help think of a time when you were brave.  See the David and Goliath pdf file and dictate and illustrate: I was brave when…  AND also dictate and illustrate all the things you can do well. I am good at…

*Make up a prayer thanking God for helping you do your best to learn new things and be brave!

Language Arts
(20 minutes)
Our sound for this week is y. Can you think of words that begin with y? Yes, yarn and yellow are a few. If you or your parent trace and cut out a y letter you could glue yarn on it or guess what color you could color it? I cut out a y and other pieces of paper to make a yak. It’s not hard to do. You will see it in a picture I’m sending.

If you don’t know what a yak is here is a bit of information about them. Yaks are related to cattle. There are two types, wild and domesticated. Yaks live in icy, cold mountainous regions of Central Asia. You can find it on a world map. Yaks are large animals that have strong sturdy legs and thick long shaggy fur that keeps them warm in the bitter cold. They eat grasses, herbs and small shrubs. They crunch on ice or snow for water. You can find a lot of pictures and information about them online. Your family can help yo with that.

Math
(20 minutes)
For math this week I thought doing some work on before, between and after numbers would be fun to practice. What numbers you use will depend on your child’s number sense. I have sent an example for you to see. Parents, you can make the pages and your child can tell you and then write the number that fits the space. If your child doesn’t write numbers yet you can use a highlighter to write and they can trace. See if they can give you the answer first. Use more challenging numbers for those who are able. Counting and number tracing or writing  is always helpful. If you have any questions please email me. I like hearing from you. Thank you for the April and May pages I’ve been receiving. I’ll be putting the books together at the beginning of June so there is still time.
